The government received the report on the 31 October. They have twenty five sitting days to table that report, so it could be as late as March. My own opinion is that Scott Morrison will want to hit the ground running with this one. The prime minister knows how important this is to parents and there were a large number of submissions from parents, unhappy with the current system.
Competing for parents hard earned dollars at the moment are; preschools, not for profit childcare operators, community based childcare, long day care, and family day care. If the nanny subsidy and the grandparent subsidy are given the green light (all indications are that they will) then another two subsidised childcare providers come into play. The nanny subsidy is what will benefit parents the most, flexible, cost effective, ability to share the nanny with another parent (number of children cared for will probably reflect that of family day carers) in the security of their own home.
