Funny story. Viagra was initially developed to treat pulmonary (lung) hypertension. As part of the initial trials, participants were given extra tablets in case they lost some. When all the participants were using up their extra tablets, the researchers questioned why. Turns out the drug was giving some "extra" benefits!
