goodaye,
don't shoot me, because I know some will claim this as cross-promotion - but i have significant holdings in quite a few CSG players, so follow them all.
I think these comments wrt WCL are relevant to ESG and also the MELs, BOWs etc.
The big boys, Origin, Santos, AGL etc, are in a different category, because they are diverse, producing cashflow, well established etc, etc,
It seems to me that all pure play small CSG stocks (incl WCL) are taking a hiding, and probably for a variety of reasons:
eg
- no recent corporate moves,
- poor publicity and environmentalist scare campaign,
- carbon tax fear
- govt regulation and relating concerns
- fears of cost blowouts and skills shortages, etc etc
The fear of environmental problems wrt installing pipelines, drilling issues, fraccing concerns and water contamination, may be part of the reason junior CSG stocks are getting hit.
Clearly ESG is in this category, with fears about the pipeline route, damage to the state forest, landowner anger, claimed water issues etc.
The market may be questioning whether the extraction of CSG will in fact occur, when and what rates, and where?
With these thoughts in mind I cannot help to think what a good situation WCL is now in.
It is one of the very few small CSG coys actually producing.
It's wells in Meridian evidently produce negligble water, its landowners are evidently all very much onside, its compressors and pipelines already exist and, it has gas contracts in place (albeit a shortfall of gas).
It is undertaking a big reserves expansion program, in the same field, (and next door in Paranui) which I am suggesting here will not be subjected to the scaremongering of the anti-CSG lobby - because the fields, the wells, the compressors and the pipelines are ALREADY in place and producing.
Thats the rub.
Whereas the other prospective CSG producers like ESG, are going to face harder questioning and conditions in order to get their projects up and running.
Its interesting to compare the circumstances of these various small CSG coys.
SO I am thinking there's a big plus for a small CSG producer, in being one of the few actually producing gas NOW !
cheers
