If anything, the cost of international air freight ex (and to) Australia is continuing to increase, thanks to the three Labor Premiers from Victoria, Queensland and WA who selfishly put the proverbial smoking gun to the PM's head (politically speaking) and halved the number of inbound passengers allowed each week to the various airports.
The Board of Airline representatives of Australia (which speaks for a large number of foreign airlines) says some are only allowed to carry five passengers inbound to Oz, so the viability of flights is questionable despite high fares and freight rates.
I've also read this week how shipping containers continue to be in short supply with rates to some destinations having close to tripled, so some smaller companies have chosen to discontinue exports as they're not viable.
Neither is helpful to volumes in LAU's division that handles this sort of outbound freight.
