Australian rapidfire invention is in final development phase.

Metal storm is the invention / concept of Australian Mike O'Dwyer, part of a Queensland-based weapons technology company that has been developing this unique weapon concept for some years. So far, contracts have been signed with the US Marine Corps and a Canadian Defence agency.

The various weapons systems to which the concept can be adapted operate on a caseless rounds loaded into single or multiple barrels, interspersed with charges that are electronically detonated within milliseconds of each other. This allows unheard-of cyclic rates of up to one million rounds a minute. The concept is referred to as a "superposed load"
