The car manufacturers are moving away from diesel - it's becoming too difficult (hence expensive) to meet the emissions standards on them (not just CO2 but the fine particulate matter also). Now we're seeing a lot of low capacity turbo petrol engines but they're really just a stop-gap until electric cars take over.
