Its political, and Labour and Liberals fault from many years ago, when both parties sold off Australian power assets and privatised them, setting the scene for rampant price gauging today to turn a profit for shareholders.
South Australia is probably the worst example (Highest average price per kw), taking into account the cost of aging infrastructure, higher costs for people etc etc, power prices go up.
However, renewable are cheaper to generate per Kw, and they have been cheaper compared to fossil fuels since c2017, that was when the tables turned.
IMO the two major issues we face is overnight storage of power (Large battery sites are being built but not enough) and aging infrastructure to deliver said power.
