Towards the end of last year Metso and AVL were fine tuning the design of the grate kiln hopefully to improve energy efficency and lower gas consumption. The grate kiln design at present uses 30% less gas than Largo and Bushveld roasters.
A concentrate sample was also sent to the Metso lab to look at improving the processing plant performance.
There has not yet been a report released on this testing.
Vanadium is a critical mineral for America and AVL has an MoU for 2000 tonnes p/a of V2O5 with USV. Could the American Export - Import Bank (EXIM) be interested in supporting Metso/AVL?
I realise TMT had a letter of interest for the FL Smidth kiln for a$150m with the Denmark export credit agency, but it appears AVL is leaning toward the Metso kiln AIMO.
