From what I understand the cost of freight from Europe for the electrolyte can add as much as 30% to the battery cost. Obviously the idea is to produce electrolyte from the pilot plant, send to gildemeister to approve the quality and if okay add electrolyte here. It's a clever move.
The freight differential from Asia would be less. I would estimate China would be around 30% less on the unit without electrolyte.
More importantly, Gildemeister do not make a smaller domestic unit yet where as the Chinese do.
I think Gildemeister is the right fit for the next year while those Chinese contacts are made. However those relationships should be starting to be built now rather than waiting. It takes time....
