Yes I'd say he wasn't fully aware of the Siemens Gamesa work at that time (it was mid 2022) as he was in a new role in a different business group on the other side of the world. All i know is I was disappointed at the time I couldn't get any good-oil on the topic out of my Siemens Electrical Engineer buddy .
In April last year i linked him and sent the Horizon trial news item i had and his reply... "good to see some alternate technology being trialed. Will be interesting to see the results/stats. Fluence is a storage product company and relatively technology agnostic - we design the enclosures and have them (externally) manufactured. We make the control SW. The rest of the equipment is just purchased from the market. So if other storage technologies take off, Fluence is well placed (a deliberate strategy) to rapidly pivot and adopt those technologies. I might be delivering flow battery projects in the not to distant future...!".
So lets hope that is happening with the likes of Siemens as large scale electrical engineering companies will be a major driver in getting this duck into the air!
