In view of the recent announcement by wave energy converter Protean Energy (POW) that, subject to the usual approvals, it intends to take a 50% stake in a Vanadium Redox Flow Battery Energy Storage System (VRFB-ESS) company KORID Energy Ltd (a subsidiary of a Korean company that it is already involved with in a vanadium play) I was wondering whether anyone can recall whether ADO's technology may have been evaluated for use in such systems. Anyone???
Admittedly I am not overly familiar with most aspects, but this system seems ideal for use in applications such as POW is trying to commercialise. I understand that vanadium with its multi valency states can store huge amounts of electrical energy but are they troubled by electrode performance in any way.
Underlying my interest in this is my long held belief that wave and tide energy as opposed to normal wind and solar energies will prove to be a more viable long term source in many situations.
