Yes, they're linked.

On 3/11 M&G reported an increase in substantial holding of 1,035,163 shares which occured on 1/11 (last Monday). In that announcement they listed the 'holder of relevant interest' as M&G Investment Management Limited, M&G Limited, M&G Group Limited, Prudential plc, (Chase Nominees Ltd - VANG).

So it looks like the purchase of shares for the Vanguard Fund has been under the control of M&G.

Curiously though, both entities have declared a substantial holding based on the same parcel of 5m shares from the initial placement on 23/09 (acquired by VPMM Fund on 28/09).
