    Clinical & Technical Specialist

    Reporting to the Product Marketing Manager

    Ventracor is an international medical device company focused on commercialising the world’s leading ‘artificial heart’ device, the VentrAssist™ Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD). The VentrAssist™ is a new third generation implantable heart device primarily designed as an alternative to heart transplantation for people with cardiac failure.     A vacancy within our Clinical Engineering Team exists for a Clinical & Technical Specialist.


    Primary Objectives/ General Function:


    Attend and give technical advice at implants and explants of the VentrAssist™ LVAS;
    Provide product education to external users of the VentrAssist™ LVAS;
    Provide clinical & technical support to clinical trial sites (including on-call work);
    Attend trade displays/conferences to promote the VentrAssist™ LVAS;
    Liaise with internal departments as required.



    Key Challenges/ Specific Functions:


    Provide clinical and technical support, including on-call telephone support and short notice interstate support trips;
    Liaise with internal departments to provide clinical feedback and experience;
    Liaise with animal facility to ensure successful completion of any animal implants for Ventracor research/training purposes;
    Assist in preparation of product manuals;
    Facilitate product returns/replacements and device tracking.


    To be successful in this role you will possess the following knowledge & experience:


    Nursing, engineering or science degree with biological/medical component;
    Knowledge of VAD technology and concepts;
    Ability to provide effective technical education to a variety of professionals including nurses, engineers, clinicians and perfusionists;
    Excellent written and oral communication skills;
    Ability to communicate effectively in a medical environment during critical situations;
    Ability to work well within a team;
    General computer proficiency (eg. Word, Excel);
    Willingness to travel;
    Clinical experience managing VAD patients would be advantageous.
