I prefer to study derivatives of PA as they consider more variables than observing PA alone - although PA has its place too for confirming potential BO's that were identified by earlier changes in momentum. Momentum takes into account variables that are important in identifying trends such as volume, range, close, directional movement, and rate of change from previous periods ie acceleration/deceleration - all required when attempting to identify trends and their possible continuation.
