VDM subsidiary wins AUD 60 million in contracts VDM Group Ltd's Western Australian subsidiary, Wylie & Skene Pty Ltd has been awarded five new contracts totaling some AUD 60 million. Three of the contracts awarded to the company come from mining major Rio Tinto Ltd, where Wylie & Skene will design and construct central facilities, an administration building and a warehouse.
These projects are summarized below
1. Sino Iron Ore Project Accommodation Village This project for MCC Mining Pty Ltd involves the construction of a 600 man accommodation village facility at the Sino Iron Ore Project at Cape Preston in Western Australia. The facility comprises accommodation units, staff canteens, a tavern, a gymnasium and associated facilities for the area. It is expected that the project will be completed by February 2009.
2. Brockman 4 Central Facilities This project for Rio Tinto involves the design and construction of central facilities, comprising staff restaurants, kitchens, a gymnasium, a tavern and associated facilities. It is expected that the project will be completed by March 2009.
3. Brockman 4 Administration Building This project for Rio Tinto involves the design and construction of a steel-framed administration building. It is expected that the project will be completed by March 2009.
4. Brockman 4 Workhouse Facility This project for Rio Tinto involves the design and construction of a steel-framed warehouse facility. It is expected that the project will be completed by February 2009.
5. Newman Airport Terminal This project for the Shire of East Pilbara involves the design and construction of a 900 square meter airport terminal building at Newman. The new terminal will provide state of the art facilities as a gateway to the centre of the iron ore mining industry in the region. It is expected that the project will be completed by December 2008.
