The latest white knight effort by the govt is to imply Australia is a dumping ground of innefficient vehicles and lagging behind the rest of the world.

Now I find this highly subjective and if I was Spud, I'd be demanding a like for like comparison of the exact manufacture vehicles to be tested here and offshore to see if there is a geographical influence on fuel consumption, not withstanding our climate differences.

Any car nut knows how fuel consumption increases and power decreases with increases in ambient temps.

Meanwhile consider how the Labor Party gets it's policies and directives on most everything these days from the Trudeau Govt and comparo:-
