Extending the transition period is not likely to appeal to manufacturers. They will not produce 2 sets of emission controls for the same vehicle. Toyota have said that the end of the diesel motor in light vehicles including 4wds is approaching. Nissan will stop making the 3 litre Patrols and the new Y65 is a 3.3 litre twin turbo petrol with more power, torque and fuel economy of it's replacement petrol V8.

IF?? there is a market in USA for less stringent standards for commercial vehicles then providing the manufacturers then also produce a right hand drive version then OK. But that again puts onus on manufacturers to build both a lesser standard and then also a RHD version..............Doubt that will happen.

Moving to Euro 6 standard..... what other option do we have??

For all the Nah sayers here.........please reply with how we can remain isolated from the rest of the vehicle world when we have no manufacturing of our own??
