The gap might close if enough chartists believe it will close and work to that effect (by selling cheap). However, there are many chartists who would not be surprised if today's news gave rise to a "breakaway" gap that will not be closed. Personally I see TNG as now having the credentials to go the full distance and whether the gap closes or not does not worry me.
