I don't think you really understood or tried to understand my question.
Yes shorters want the price down. But the act of taking a short position does not actually cause the price to decline does it? Price declines because a holder offers for sale shares that they own, for less than the prevailing SP- which is not shorting as I understand it. As far as I can tell shorting is not the method of control, but the method of benefiting from control.
If you can't respond to that issue directly please don't bother. There is no hidden agenda here for you to try to address- just genuine desire to learn.
