    Having done 4 years at Uni doing software design and development I can say the 100 characters thing sounds like a type of textbox used in developing a website. My bet is when you click on the image it has been protected by placing a text box of some kind over the top of the image.
    The text box is clear in colour so you dont see see it. When you click the image you are actually clicking on the text box and it throws up that information of 100 characters because that is all that type of text box can take. Ive use a similar method to stop people stealing images etc before.
    Either that or there is some horrible error handling going on in that code.
    Is the sight a subscription type website because that would account for the security of their images.
