When Malcolm Turnbull was trying to keep Liddell (coal based electricity generator) open seeking meetings with AGL, it seemed to me that the current Australian government really wasn't likely to be doing much to encourage movement towards renewables or grid-storage that go with renewables.

When the market is chock full of misdirected incentives and when traditional fossil fuels are not taxed for their pollution and health costs then it is difficult for the market to get good price signals on different technologies because there are too many hidden fingers on the scales.

I am still learning about new energy technology but it seems like the space is particularly hard to work in because the politics around it is nearly insane. A good percentage of people I know probably don't believe in global warming. And they still vote.
