    Hi Guys,

    I have been looking into Vortex Fluidic Device.  after watching Peter’s latest video and reading our recent QTR report. I always assumed VFD was a closed loop system, I only recently discovered that it can be feed continuously, and used to mix chemical / polymers

    How VFD works.



    I believe VFD was first tested to convert graphite into graphene prior to FGR securing the IP (i.e not using SL Graphite). In our QTR update we were advised VFD can now be used to create graphene oxide without the use of harsh chemicals

    I am invested another ASX listed graphite company, its off take partners (German)  are all looking using products that come for environmental and social responsible companies, The VFD would not only be a quicker method, it is also chemical free.

    Depending on FGR agreement with Flinders University, they will be able to sell licenses to other companies to use this device to convert graphite into graphene, graphene oxide, or FGR will be able to convert 3rd parties graphite into these products.

    Vortex fluid has also been used to cut carbon nano tubes.

    Shear stress induced fabrication of functional nano-carbon New forms of carbon nano-materials, including composites of fullerenes with carbon nano-tubes and graphene, will be investigated using self-assembly strategies and innovative approaches such as laser induced processing using a vortex fluidic device (VFD), in collaboration with Jason Gascooke and warren Lawrance. Also included is an extension of our recent work on using thin film microfluidics to form graphene scrolls directly from graphite (application in gas storage and supercapacitors), and the slicing of carbon nano-tubes in a controlled way. The ability to slice carbon nanotubes, without the use of waste generating chemicals offers scope for developing short carbon naotubes for drug delivery applications (≥ 120 nm), and longer lengths for device fabrication, as in solar cells (in collaboration with Joe Shapter) and membrane technology (water purification). Importantly, technology needs to be developed based on carbon, as some metals become scarce, and in overcoming their health risks. Aspects of this research are also in collaboration with Kasturi Vimalanathan.
