As @daicosisgod pointed out, this 10 person in the home allowance is a very out of character move from Dan and for that reason its likely this is being driven by internal polling. You can imagine a focus group being given a list of things and to rank them, I have no doubt visiting family/friends in homes would have been number one. Most have not had a family dinner in 3 months.
The problem is though it creates some the odd things. Such as people walking aimlessly walking around a large shopping centre with no shops open (saw this when getting a haircut and it was so funny to watch), yet free that night to socialise with up to 10 people from any number of househholds that night.
It also wasted a golden opportunity to kicm start the resturant amd bars, if home visits were still banned people would have gone out.
Instead, in the Chairman's laser focus on not caring at all about people that dont vote for him, he has simply created a scenario where most will just head to Colesworth, given them another dollar and have dinner and drinks at home free of all the regs in a public setting.
Lets wait and see the if the case numbers explode over the next week from all the home gatherings (the HIGHEST risk activity), and if this leads to much less loosening of restrictions at 80% dd.
Lets all just hope Dan doesnt survive his party room next year if the polls tighten. He should have resigned l9ng ago when the second wave and extra 100 days of lockdown was needed. Instead he had that joke of an inquiry to save his job. Disgraceful.
