There are about half a trillion tonnes of lignite in the valley identified thus far.

Some of the seams are known to be 330 metres deep and run for shires and shires

Just to round numbers off for empirical comparison..

Brown coal power generators here burn over 50 million tonnes a yr ( about 63 )

10 yrs = .6 billion tonnes

100 yrs = 6 billion toones

1000 yrs = 60 billion tonnes

So 1000yrs will get 12% of it mined...

Only 5% of the resouce is jorced

the 500 yr estimate will change...

There are thousands of years worth in theory but jorc is jorc until it is required to be re-jorced.

Anyone who suggests the Vic govt can ill afford to release lignite for export is craaaazeee.
