    Politicians would argue they play politics for the good of their constituents. It's always the defence, no matter what party colours, no matter how untrue.

    To my mind Victoria has had only a short time when it wasn't cutting its own throat; i.e. during Henry Bolte's reign. He saw Melbourne turning effeminate and got out on top of his game. Either side of the bookends has seen some fairly average talking heads, the later ones overseeing dismantling of Bolte's electricity generation legacy that drove industrialisation :- sold off and dismantled in favour of cafe's and selfish kitsch..
