The defence lawyer applied for a suppression order citing mental reasons, risk of self harm.
The judge made an interim suppression order saying that the accused had the right to a fair trial and didn't have to judge the merits of the case because it was only temporary.
The defence lawyer later withdrew the associated application for a permanent suppression order citing the "uproar" it had caused. He also said that he had only just met the man and has the responsibility to act in his best interests.
Apart from that the suppression order didn't work because his name had already been released and was available for anybody to find on the internet. I hope if it was him who did it that he tells the cops what happened to the body.
