Alan Kohler appears to have spent too long at the ABC. In today's Australian he was trotting out the "there's no gas in Victoria anyway" falsehood. "One of the great myths of this debate ...... is that there is a whole lot of gas ......... locked up by the Victorian and NSW governments. There's not." As if that blatant unsubstantiated claim wasn't enough he then went on to say, "And even if some coal seam gas was liberated ....... It would most likely be prohibitively expensive and / or unviable.
He provide no references, sources etc. for these "facts" which look like green based misinformation and not the work of a journalist I have usually some respect for.
On a more positive note on the same page Robert Gottliebsen had an article about how prospective for onshore gas Gippsland is, and he even mentioned Lakes oil by name in the footnote.
