The first meeting of the Victorian Renewable Energy Action Plan working group took place on Monday, as the Andrews Government seeks to boost its share of what is said was a predicted $36bn in clean energy investment to be seen annually in Australia by 2020.
Energy Minister Lily D'Ambrosio met with stakeholders from industry, labour, academia and environmental organisations. A spokeswoman for the minister would not confirm speculation that the government was considering auctions for the construction of renewables projects for its own power needs.
"[The group] discussed possible measures the Victorian Government could adopt to boost renewable energy in this state. These options will now be carefully considered by the Victorian Government. The plan will continue to be developed, with community input, throughout the year," the spokeswoman said.
