Is the rental situation one of particular difficulty for Victorians, or are similar difficulties occurring in the NSW and South Australian markets? Investment properties taken out of the rental market don't cease to exist, they're increasingly in Victoria being purchased by a first home buyer which reduces rental demand. Policy in Victoria is addressing the structural decline in home ownership in this country which is the greatest long term issue facing the national housing market.
