You can exercise the options at any time but it's not worthwhile until the options are the same price as the heads including the exercise price i.e. the heads are worth 3c and the options are worth 1c + 2c exercise price. If you don't exercise them or sell them on market prior to December 2020 then you'll lose your initial investment
