Australia produces about 9.4m tonnes of barley a year. Victoria produces 25% of that.
In 2019/20 exports to the worls were 4.7m tonnes of which approximately 50% was sent to China.
Therefore at the current barley price of A$230 per tonne the value of Vic barley exported to China is A$135m.
That is worth a phone call from Daniel Andrews to the Chinese bureaucracy.
