And it looks like the worst is over for India, with cases already down to half the levels that they were a few weeks ago:



Based on the empirical evidence, this looks like a variant that is not only not deadlier, but also not as infectious as the media was making it out to be.

(I say "was making it out to be" because - somewhat uncannily - the media no longer talks about India nearly as much as it did a few weeks ago. I guess it has become bored with India and has moved on to coverage of the next histrionics that might attractive attention.)
