The "protected" and "pampered" public service has been the only sector to grow wealthier during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Sky News host Rowan Dean.
Research from the Institute of Public Affairs found the 2020 lockdowns in Victoria led to a pay rise of $1,500 for the average public servant while the average private-sector worker wages fell $1,200 during the same periods.
Mr Rowan said the research was a "grotesque" example of how public servants were protected by the Andrews government.
"A study from the Institute of Public Affairs pointing to the fact, and this is just grotesque, but we knew it all along, we could see it happening, the same time Melbourne and Victorian small business and private enterprises have gone into the red, have been decimated, the public service, that protected, pampered public service of Dan Andres has got wealthier and wealthier," Mr Dean said.
