I agree. I think it does more than just address climate change too. Once installed, a solar panel just generates continuously close to consumption without having to mine, transport the coal, and with less need for long distance power transmission. The money goes to local installers who generally can’t offshore their profits in tax havens, so it fuels the local economy. The smaller capital intensity of each business means there is genuine competition, so harder to form cartels, and opportunities for new models of provision open up. Investing tax payer money in bringing those benefits to the community does not seem unreasonable to me, and worth a try at this time. And it is possible that RFX will find a part in that - I just don’t really see what it will be, and don’t think it will be a big part, whatever it is, within the next five years.
