I agree that it's a long way back to manufacturing with
our current regime . The obvious answer is that if we
want manufacturing we simply have to change the
regime.
In order to do that we first have to:
-analyse why we went wrong
-analyse what/how others are doing
-analyse global markets
-review our FTAs ....are they fit for purpose
Then and only then can we think about reviving manufacture.
For example while our Auto manufacturing was still going
and on the taxpayers' drip, we signed FTAs with Japan, Korea
& Thailand all big auto manufacturers .
At that time a FTA with Thailand was absurd with nothing but
a downside for Aus.
