Renewables are now cheap power and batteries are commercially viable because they consume the cheap surplus power and release it when power is needed making good profits. The fact that lots are needed is just a commercial reality to be filled and that why batteries are being installed with new renewable power stations.

It's just a matter of time as they chip away at coal and gas.
