BTW there was nothing to save from. Japan has 0 interest in occupying in Australia, they couldn't even hold on a fraction of China at the time.
What the Japs wanted was protecting their shipping lane for oil, China was a quagmire that consumed all their oil. They bombed Darwin because US navy ships stationed there which threatened their oil supply in the south. Otherwise Australia is literally worthless to the Japs.
