Refugees are not generated by Australian politicians except in the case of the Liberal party and the two political wars they got us into. Vietnam and Iraq.
That aside most refugees are produced by conditions in their own countries.
Most would prefer to remain in their home countries and only leave under duress.
That's the genuine ones anyway.
The ones coming for economic or family reunion reasons are different and don't deserve any sympathy.
As far as I can see neither side of politics has any workable policy solution to boat people and I don't know if either really wants one despite what they say.
Both major parties are hell bent on growing Australia by all means available and increasing the population is a major factor in that.
