Bendigo asks: "Why did you choose to almost exclusively discriminate
against Australian workers when you built your extension?"
After having our Student Extension planned and approved
(which took seven dreary months) we looked for a builder
at Canberra's Master Builders Association (MBA) but the
price per square metre was outrageously high. So we
asked friends who had extensions done recently and
they recommended a Vietnamese builder. We asked
him for a quote and it was much more reasonable.
So he got the job and he employed a diverse crew
of sub-contractors and workers as I described.
He got the job done is five months and not a
single fault has emerged in six years. Back
when the job was done, he did such a
good job in a timely fashion that we
gave him a $2500 bonus and took
him and his extended family to
a fancy Canberra restaurant.
The MBA builders lost the job by trying to
price-gouge us and play us for fools. The
Vietnamese builder was honest with us.
