Those are salt stockpiles.
Halite & sylvite drop out of solution as the brine concentrates with evaporation, and roughly every 3 years, salts from each pond get harvested and stockpiled.
Though, you're partially correct, since lithium is lost to inclusion within the precipitation of those salts (~30% IIRC) and the company uses some leaching process to recover the trapped lithium.
