That makes two pilots that feel it was a catastrophic event, which imo is the most sens ible remembering the plane had changed course for a direct route to a KL airport.
I would like to know how many cracks have been found in the front of the 777 fuselage as per AD,and it would not be the first time a sequence of events like a fire on the front lower grey composite water mast as per AD combined could coarse such a catastrophic event.
Taking away all conspiracy theories for now, boeing and airbus seem to go to extreme lengths to find out what happened, maybe the exception being the 747 cargo door lock which new zealand parents of one of the victims found the problem.
ps although the 777 does have more composite than previous boeings but no ware near as much as newer aircraft,it would be a concern if maybe composites were creating more problems than expected over time and what would that do to the industry eg UK comet de havilland ,just a thought and maybe irrelevant.
