A couple of patients have publicised their hospital bills after a long battle with COVID19 ARDS. A Seattle man was billed over a million US dollars. He did have a particularly long stay - 62 days - but also noted that there were further costs still to come in.

So health insurers or governments could be paying US$300,000-500,000 for treatment of more typical ICU ARDS cases. And paying even for the many who unfortunately don't pull through.

That's before adding some value for the lives saved, PLUS the better lung, heart and brain health outcomes in survivors, PLUS the benefits to economic conditions, PLUS the benefits to societal and mental wellbeing that will come from knowing that COVID19 is then not anywhere near as likely to take their own or their loved ones lives.

When I really think about all of that, any of the above-mentioned potential costs for a very effective MSB treatment appear justifiable.
