Virgin Blue, Coles
Virgin Blue and Wesfarmers owned supermarket chain Coles are in discussions over the airline joining the retailer?s Flybuys loyalty scheme, in a similar tie-up to the one between direct rivals Woolworths and Qantas. The Australian Financial Review reports that the deal will see consumers able to purchase tickets for Virgin flights with points gained by shopping with Coles and other participating retailers. The two firms considered a model very similar to the Qantas-Woolworths one before settling on the Flybuys scheme.
