If you were trying to win votes you wouldn't be bailing out a company with the word Virgin in its name, especially when that company hasn't paid tax in Australia for some time and is 95% owned by international shareholders, including indirectly by 3 governments and one billionaire.
Joyce may be a sook but it's really up to the shareholders and management of VA to fix the company or let it go to administrators.
I can think of more areas in which government can buy votes.
