re: virus alert ... almost 2 weeks old Invitation to trouble with poor anti-virus
Thursday, 11 May 2006
COMPUTER users are warned to be wary of the latest wave of computer viruses, with a new destructive e-mail virus spreading rapidly.
The virus is spread through the email address books of infected computers, mailing itself out to all e-mail contacts listed on the host computer.
The virus typically comes in the form of an e-mail titled "Invitation", which uses what experts are calling an "Olympic Torch" to destroy all files on the computer's hard drive.
Those who find they have received an e-mail titled "Invitation", even if from a friend, are urged to shut down their computer immediately.
While the virus is being called "the most destructive ever", local computer experts say there are greater problems facing computer users.
