Tesla takes orders for their cars well before they are made. I'm pretty certain if they did this they be ramping up their business activities and have a website well and truly done by now. What happens if they have all this product ready to go and no one is buying? Once they have all this product it could take months before people really catch on and meanwhile competitors have the jump on you. Create the demand and create the pressure.
