You also have to remember Unwired was a complete failure but Vivid is a looking to be a huge success. What would you chose, Bigpond 3 gig for $50 on a 24 month plan or Vivid 5 gig $35 on no plan??? This week Harvey Norman, Dick Smith etc will be selling the product from the stores so it will be getting a lot more exposure.
Do the sums when later on in the year when the other capital cities get connected...
From a bit investigating I found the vividwireless modems are hardwired to only take Engin as the VOIP provider.. unless you are a tech geek then there is a way around it but not worthwhile to most punters.
There are so many places where you can't get ADSL due to telsra splitting phone lines because they don't want to spend the money on infrastructure for subdivisions and new housing estates. 3G Optus/Virgin lines are so jammed with voice and data it is impossible to get a decent speed. Renters and Share house boarders can have their own internet and phone which is totally portable with Vivid.
This will make Engin a lot of money from now on in I just don't want Stokes to rip the company off like he did with Tivo.
