jongo thanks for your reply. I trade only cfd and can short any target that is offered. The only problem is that there is a number of of exclusions and xiv is one of them. The uvxy has a 20% margin most others are 10%.
I have decided to only trade the vixy as it is the most versatile and least volatile of the lot on offer. The other pest is the early morning trading so my trades are/will be worked off bids on limits.
Therefore my calculations must be quite accurate.
MAs and lines of resistance on the VIX are moving targets on the vixy as the price sinks slowly into the mire. Therefore it's a bit of Ickimoku forward plotting moving averages. Trying to short the index on a decline is the falling knife routine as the VIX indices can move very quickly as you know so I have to be reasonably certain and prepared to hold a a loss for a short while. But the VIX is only volatile in short bursts, the loss would be short term.
