I couldn't understand why you'd go long one and short the other?
They mean the same thing in much the same way. It's the leverage and their position relative to zero.that is of interest to me. It's been some time since we've seen a high VIX number but I think the VIXY has an acceleration value factor. The SPXU has the leverage as a multiplier.
