Sounds realistic.
Don't see how you could have a binding contract on a price 12 months away.
Price related mechanisms that are calculated at time of production, as you mentioned, would be the best you could hope for I'd imagine.
They should be able to arrange that with a certain amount of confidence now.
At least we will know there is a buyer ready and willing to accept VML's product.
